英会話スクールの学習記録が・・・
忙しくてなかなかブログに時間を割けないものだから
どんどん溜まってしまっているので、
遅れている数回分をとばしてしまいます。
（まあ自分用なのでいいかな、と）
ということで、いきなり２１回目の記録。
最初の契約は２５回。
まだまだ先は長いと思っていたのが、もう２１回目だなんて
気が付けばあっという間だなぁ～って感じです。
今回は「受動態」。
受動態なんて、それこそ中学英語の前半で習う文法だから、
「今更」って思う人のほうが多いかもしれないけれど、
これも英語で、ネイティブ目線の文法で学びなおすと発見がとても多いです。
・・・といいつつ、
文法知識的なことよりも、
今回は「フリートーク」を頑張ったのでそちらについて記録したいです。
毎回、フリートークは事前にお題がわかっていて
「〇〇について会話してみる」「××について説明する」
感じなのですが、この日は
「最近聞いた面白いニュースをシェアしてみる」というテーマ。
ニュース記事について話すのって意外と難しい。
政治的な話は難しいし、事件・事故については内容によっては
深刻なムードになってしまったりするし・・・
ということで、結構悩みました。
国内外問わず、なにかないかな～とニュースサイトを探してみたものの
このときは、これといって使えそうな記事が見つからず・・・・
たまたま見つけたのが、ヤフーニュースから拾った
「あるＩＴ企業の社長が、今後一切喫煙者を採用しない」とツイッターで
宣言したというニュース。
このニュース、わたしのツイッターにもＲＴで拡散されてきたので
「ああ！」という感じだったのですが、
英字でのニュースは見つけられなかったので
記事のすべてを自分で英訳して話してみたんですね。
いつもは話すことの一部は、どこかから引用してきたものを入れていたりするので
こんなふうに全文自分で考えるのは初めてなので
実際に話すとき（もちろん、何も見ないで話します）ときには
「どこでダメ出しをされるかなぁ～」とドキドキしていたのですが
なんと、ダメ出しゼロでした！！！
そして「とても内容がよくわかったよ」との誉め言葉も。
それがものすごくうれしくて、自信になったので
原稿を載せておきます。
（※とはいえ、ネイティブ講師が”このくらいはＯＫ”と見逃してくれた、
おかしいところはあるかもしれないので、ご容赦を）
As I mentioned before,
My son recently got a job and he will work at that company from next April.
So I've been interested in job huntings by Japanese university students this spring,
because it was related to my son.
It is called Shuu-katsu in Japanese.
It is said that Japanese job-hunting system for students graduating next spring
is very complicated and so hard activities.
The other day I heard a news, and it was very interesting.
So I’d like to tell you about it.
A president of an IT company declared on social media that
they would never hire anyone who has a habit of smoking.
He said,
” It's your decision how to live your life within the law,
but when it comes to working at my company, smoking is nothing but disadvantages.
And he explained the reason.
"There is no advantage in terms of health, productivity,
and the effect for the nonsmokers in our workplace. "
It is said that remaining smoking area will be removed,
and when it comes to the employees who have already have smoking habits,
a part of the cost of medical treatment for quitting smoking will be paid.
And he also said that he understands there is a risk that
they could lose a chance to hire some excellent human resources
due to such a smoking habit, or
some current employees might complain about this sudden change of company policy,
but he still believes that the benefits outweigh the negatives.
Since this announcement went viral on social media,
it was featured in the news and it has caused the controversy.
some people would agree that this is a good idea,
but others mainly who already have smoking habits criticize that it is discrimination.
・・・・と、こんな感じで話して
この後は、「喫煙習慣」について意見を交わした感じです。
こんな感じの英語も・・・原稿じゃなくって
その場で即興で話せるようにならなければ意味がないのですが
まずはできるだけ正しい英語が使えること、
時間をかけても、ちゃんと自分で英文を組み立てられること、
今はそれが最優先かなと思い、
あせらずコツコツ演習を積みたいと思ってます。
